Is Chivalry Really Dead?

Following an onging argument with my fiance' I thought that chivalry really must be dead. I couldn't get him to do anything "just because". He equated doing something nice as "purchasing a gift", and he'd go on and on about how that isn't necessary. Finally, I found the words to describe what I meant by being nice or doing anything for me outside of fustrating me because I couldn't get him to reach nirvana...lol(mentally). So I used the word "thoughtful", and he understood. I think in 2009 close to 2010 many men are so put off by the "gold diggers" and the "gimme gimme girls" that they are so apprehensive about showing a girl what she really wants..."chivalry". To me chivalry goes beyond holding the door or pulling out chairs,...it's about allowing yourself to be vulnerable even with others are watching. Actions speak louder than words and I think many women respond to that. Yes, there are still women who enjoy the simple things. So I guess my point is, Chivalry is not dead, it's just misunderstood. ~lovejoyasha~

  1. Good point, a lot of men don't understand what Chivalry means. Something to ponder...
